Call Day #72, 7/12/14

We started the morning with muffins. Claire finishes assembling them. (Normally she happily dresses herself before she comes downstairs but had had an episode this morning of saying she couldn't pick out what to wear; needed someone else to turn the light on so she could see to pick out her clothes; no, opening the shade herself to see was not an acceptable way of getting enough light, etc. Hence, no clothes.)

Making play dough with a recipe that calls for coloring it with Kool Aid mix.

With the finished product. It smelled good!

An extra package was mixed for drinking.

Eleanor wanted a picnic today. In the front yard.

Watermelon boy.

We got a package from Grandma and Grandpa today and opened it with them via Skype. The biggest hits in the box were these special dresses made by Grandma. It's so fun to match your doll! (Claire got comments on hers later in the day when she went out with her doll in tow.)

My boy. With two of his favorites: the recently purchased football (aka "but-ball") and Woofi, his preferred sleeping buddy.

When I was putting laundry away, I invited Oliver to come with me "to Mommy and Daddy's room." I didn't realize as he ran ahead of me that he might think Erik was in there sleeping as he sometimes is during the day, post-call. He ran in pointing at the bed eagerly saying "Dada, Dada." Of course, we didn't find Daddy in there so we played around on the bed and he had fun pretending to sleep on Daddy's pillow.

The kids watched a TV show on the computer. I'm enjoying the novelty of having Amazon Prime TV shows available to let the kids choose from.

Neighborhood friends came over for an impromptu play date.

Then, finally, the event they've been looking forward to all week. An ice cream social and showing of the movie Frozen at church with friends. That's pretty much as good as it gets in the eyes of these girls. Eleanor picked out a dress with snowflakes on it in keeping with the theme of the evening.

There were lots of ice cream flavors to choose from and several toppings too.

Oliver and I did a lot of wandering in the halls so as to not disrupt others watching the movie.

Movie watching crew.
